It is official. I leave Oregon in one month. And I am very excited, happy, sad, nervous, anxious and calm all at once. There is much to do, so when people ask, "are you ready?" I feel like pulling my teeth out. No, I am not ready. How does one pack up, leave all the known behind and get ready for a new climate, culture, cuisine and community within a few months? There are many many things to organize and do. Almost there. But not really. Stay tuned.
Let us know when you've crossed that ocean, Mary! -kari
ReplyDeleteHi Kari!
ReplyDeleteI just tried to post on the blog, but the instructions are in Mandarin. I am in the Hong Kong airport, waiting for the last leg of my flight. It has been about 27 hours of travel so far and I have another 4 1/2 flight left to Bali. There was a moment in the airport when my aunt and I came from lunch and saw the Portland flight was lining up to board that it finally hit me.. I was leaving. Emotions flooded my brain as I walked down the ramp towards the plane...Leaving to live outside of Oregon for the first time, leaving my family, my friends, my job, my community, my dog, my house, my new kitty :)...then I started chatting with a woman and I caught myself from crying. I am excited and nervous! I am curious if all my luggage made it. So I am across the ocean after a long flight, but all is good. I will write more once I can post a real blog!
Lots of Love!
